Ueshiro-Bayashi Ryu is a style of martial arts from South-east Asia, which has been developed by many generations of Okinawan, Korean, Chinese and Japanese martial arts masters. Ueshiro-Bayashi Ryu is so named in honor of Okinawan Master Ansei Ueshiro.
The Ueshiro-Bayashi Ryu martial arts system, founded by Lyle Kleusch, continues to train in the same time-honored methods of these masters. For a thousand years, the Okinawans took all the forms of martial arts they encountered and incorporated them into their training. It is only in modern times, the last 100 years, that the systematic exclusion of the study of other arts took place, as the Okinawans tried to conform to strict, Japanese standards.
Ueshiro-Bayashi Ryu returns to the ancient tradition. All forms and stylesvare considered and evaluated, to determine any relevance to Ueshiro-Bayashi Ryu's applications of kata, bunkai, kumite, conditioning and philosophy.
With this in mind we strive to develop harmony in mind, body and spirit both on and off the deck. Self defense, courage and control are our watchwords.
All people, of any age, experience or background can benefit greatly from Ueshiro-Bayashi Shorin Ryu Do. We invite you to join us.
See you on the deck! Hanshi Kleusch
